An herbalist is someone who studies plants and works with them as a way to improve and maintain our well-being. This can be through foods, herbal remedies, writing about plants, gardening, etc. As an herbalist, I look at your wellness from a perspective that takes in the whole picture into account rather than focusing on one or two aspects.
What can an herbalist do?
As an herbalist, I work with people through classes, workshops, plant walks, and through one on one consultations to empower them with self care options that incorporate plants into their self care “tool box.”
What can an herbalist not do?
Herbalists are not medical doctors. This means that I cannot and will not attempt diagnose, prescribe, cure, or treat a person’s disease, ailment. As an herbalist it isn’t within my skill set to be a replacement to medical care where it is needed. If you need a physician, I will ask that you see one before we move forward with a client/consultant relationship.
What kind of classes can you offer at my venue?
I do tailor all classes to the needs of the venue. We can set up a time to meet and discuss your ideas and needs. We will consider who your target audience is and design something that will draw in and engage those who attend.
Perhaps the most popular class that I could offer at your venue is a Make ‘n’ Take class. This is a fun, hands on experience that provides attendees with
solid information
A chance to work with the herbs directly to create something they can take home.
A more conventional style presentation which could include hand outs, samplings, and open yet focused dialog about the subject matter.
A plant walk. If you have property that you would like to learn about, I can come out and present information regarding the plants growing on that property.
What can I expect during an Intake Assessment Consultation?
During an intake assessment we will look at a variety of factors that may be affecting your ability to reach your optimal wellness goals. From there I will do some personalized research and offer you a few suggestions that you can incorporate into your self care routine. You can choose to incorporate them or not, remember the goal is to empower you, and I am not diagnosing nor prescribing. If you are under a physician’s care for a particular issue, or taking medications for a health condition, I will be working with you within those circumstances in mind.
